Not sure what year is my Mercruiser 5.7L

I need to order a new starter for my 5.7L. The serial is 10243880 and the serial # tag near the starter is B483333. The problem I'm having is I can't find the corresponding model and engine with those number. I did find the Block 10243880 is relating to a 350 for 1995. But no info on the serial B483333.

Can anyone help?

Not sure where you found that serial number (B483333) but it's for a 1987 4.3L engine.

Sound fishE to me too. I changed engine 13-14 year ago.....when from a V6 to V8 (350). The job was done by a good reputation marina company. I hope is not Hot...Why would they bother putting a bad tag????

Gees, I guess for the time being, I will remove the starter and bring it to a shop and find the proper model.

Where did you get the serial number from. If it's from the plastic cover, it means nothing. The tag on the engine just above and aft of the starter is the tag to look at if it's a Merc motor.

I got it from the tag near the starter. Here the pic.

That tag has been replaced.

Yep! it sure look like this! I hate people that do scram like this..:mad::mad: I guess I will have to live with it for the time being!
