Swapping a Mercury to an Evinrude.

Hi my question is I have a chance to pick up a 16ft boat with an 80 HP Mercury on it. I want to put my Evinrude 70HP on it.
Are the bolt patterns the same or am I looking at swiss cheese transom. Thanks Dan

Depends on the year of the Merc.
