I have a 70's model Mercury 9.8hp 110 outboard that has just had the carb rebuilt. I took it out today and it did great in testing (in a barrel) and when I have it in neutral I can wind it all the way out and hit the top of the throttle and it is fine all the way back down to an idle. It also idles great. BUT once I engage it into gear and attempt to take it past half throttle it dies out???
Suggestions from friends today say it could possibly be:
Needs to be adjusted in the water
Needs new spark plugs
Float? (brand new float and complete carb kit)
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
