i know methyl ethyl ketone peroxide is used as the catalyst for poly resin and gelcoat, im wondering if methyl ethyl ketone substitute can be used as the catalyst for resin. i ran out of catalyst thinking i had more, and i do have the substitue stuff, but i dont know if they have completely different uses or if the resin will react differently. thanks in advance

Re: quick question about resin catalyst

you cant use MEK...in place of MEKP..

MEK is a cleaner........MEKP is a catylist.

even wallmart sells kits with mekp in them...and chances are that you dont have to order on line for it....you can get it locally
