Boat is 1999 Bayliner Capri with Mercruiser 3.0 135hp Alpha 1, Gen 2, no power steering. The steering is very tight. I disconnected at the end where it attached to the motor (arm that attached with cotter pin and bolt) and the wheel steered freely, so I don't think its the cable. It was still stiff at the outdrive when disconnected. Any ideas? Don't see any grease fittings, but did try to spray lubricant into all moving parts.

1999 Bayliner Capri with Mercruiser 3.0 135hp Alpha 1, Gen 2,

hi....welcome to iboats....!

there are several possibilities...

even a stiff bellows will add some tension to the system.

but you might have corrosion in the steering fork that moves the outer bell.

im going to move this to the i/o forum....you will get more replys there.

cheers
