Hi,

I know there is a small drain hole in the lower section of my SX-m drive. However when reading a generic SX drive manual it discussed a water drain plug in the drive. I cannot find this and have assumed on the SX-M there is no drain plug, just the small drain hole, is this correct?

Re: Volvo Penta SX-m Cavity Drain

Are you sure they were referring to the drive itself and not the pivot housing? There was a drain plug on the port side of the pivot housing that didn't go to anything. The plug was just a holdover from the Cobra drives that had a water passage there. When Volvo and OMC went into the joint venture and the SX drive was used, the passage was removed from the pivot housing but the screw remained for several years before it to was eliminated.
