OK , It seems that the prevailing opinion on this site is that OEM Merc bellows are worth the extra ( double ) the price of Sierra aftermarket ( though I see that the OEM exhaust bellows is made in China ) . However , what about the water intake hose on a 1972 140 hp Merc ? OEM is $15 vs about $ 1 at the local auto prats store . The Merc part says it's rated to 200 PSI , the auto one is not rated . Any opinions ? Would putting the auto part on cause any insurance issues down the road if its failure led to a claim ? Thanks

IMO the local auto parts version will be fine as long as you can substantiate that it is designed to sustain a reasonable amount of pressure.
