You don't install a "Battery Tender" you install a "battery charger" (there is a difference). Battery tenders are very low current output (1.5 amp or so) and are designed to keep a fully charged battery topped off. They are not intended to fully charge a discharged battery. Battery chargers (smart chargers) are available as a portable type or for your application you want an on-board smart charger such as a Guest, Pro-Mariner or any of the other gazillion brand names. They are available with one, two, three or even four outputs depending on how many batteries you have. There is no magic to the installation. Find a spot near the battery, mount the unit. Connect the two outputs to the battery and plug the cord into a shore power cord. If you don't like that configuration, install a shore power connector, wire the AC cord to that connector and then use the shore power cord to connect to the shore power outlet at the dock.
