Re: plumbing repair inside the hull

Hi Josh welcome to the Dry Dock!

You will need to remove the rubber insert in your rub rail and remove the screws or drill out the rivets. The top cap will most likely have a sealer between the cap and hull. A scraper will help you break the seal. It would be best to post a few pictures of the rub rail and some of the underside of the cap where it meets the hull so we know exactly what style your dealing with....being a 79 I would say a shoe box style, but you never know with an old boat...I've seen people glass them together

You will have to pull the engine, disconnect any wiring attached to the cap, steering system etc.etc.....

Others will post help too ;)

hi josh......welcome to iboats !

rick has it right on splitting the cap.....it is removed by taking the rub rail off......drilling out the rivets......then using a knife to cut the sealant.

but why are you taking the cap off to get at the live well......???

most of the plumbing can be accessed...... you may need to cut a hole in the deck to get at the thru hull.....but there is nothing up top that will help you fix plumbing problems.
