KaGee, I thought Rodney Dangerfield died.

Sorry about your 'event'. I'm not sure what might be going on. I've driven thru mud and sandbars many a time, even tearing off prop blades, but never had a cooling issue.

When you recover from the shock, I'd put the hose to your fitting and check the temperature of your primary supply line to the thermostat housing. If the temp feels ok and you can feel water running thru it, I would run the engine and see how the temp reacts. If it is ok then I'd say you have an impeller issue. Unlike muffs, the OMC fitting will deliver water to the engine even if the impeller is shot. If it is not ok then maybe you packed the passage ways full of muck or your impeller broke up and is blocking passage ways.

If the temp, when running the engine, is still high I'd pull the thermostat. You can pump the engine full of silt, so maybe forcing water water thru the engine without the thermostat will clear it.

Those are the only two things that are likely possibilities. Of course I'm assuming that the thermostat is working. That would be too big of a coincidence if it is not.

Keep me posted. It's kind of a one step at a time diagnosis.

Sorry I took so long to see your appeal, I just got back from a second trial voyage up the Columbia River. I didn't push the boat to any new limits but I went for endurance testing and it passed with flying colors. I was out for 5 hours and nothing flew apart.
