how to date an antique Evinrude outboard

I have and old Evinrude outboard number 40161017 and am not sure whether this is a serial or model number...trying to find out what year this is and horsepower and fuel ratio so that I can work on it.

Try 16:1 for a 1934 vintage maybe even 8:1 but I am no Guru when it comes to engines that old
