adding head gasket sealer

I keep reading post about adding gasket sealer to the head gaskets i bought yamaha head gaskets . should i use a sealer with them for extra insuranse . my moter is a txrt 200hp

no not with yamaha gasket but i do use perfect seal(mercury product) just to hold in place and on the bolt threads.

when u say hold it in place are u putting a dab under each corner or what?

No, I lay out the gasket engine side up and smear it all over....it is very very thin stuff, and good stuff(Mercury builds so-so engines but has great chemicals) and I coat the threads(it has a brush, it's in a can) with thin layer....never had one come back.

ok thats great idea. what about the surface on the moter side that is to say i resurfaced the the heads with 400 grit sand paper on plate glass. how much if any resurfacing on moter surfacing is nessesary if they dont seem to be warped . look a little rough like little white corrision spots . should i brush them with a wire brush or lightly sand with fine sand paper . what do u think?
