in need of parts for merc 3.9

i need a shift cog for a mercury 3.9, pretty sure it is a 1968. it is the gear that allows the motor to be shifted from netural to foward or reverse. the parts catalogs say that they are no longer made any more, might know of one , it would be greatly appriecated, the motor is mint and i would hate for that to be its demise. thanks.

no it is actually the gear on the other end of the shaft that is connected to the lever you turn to select forward, netural, or reverse. it is pretty much right under the carb and is visabal when removing the cover. it is cut in such a manner that it is actually only half a sproket, it only turns a quater turn to select gears. (hard to explain without pics, sorry). thanks for any help though.

I am sure that is the one he wants as well but the ones you are showing are for a 4.5, not a 3.9 and the numbers are different.

However, none of the parts sites i use are even showing a p/n for the half gear which is NLA.

Gerry i think that it is fig.11. if not i am on the right track now, that page is the one i am looking for. thank you for all the help every body, really made my day. just hate to see such a cool little motor ended up as being parted out. again thanks.
