I have a 1999 Evinrude 70 EFI 4 stroke.
I just bought the boat from my neighbour last year. I thought it was a 2001 because he bought it non current in that year and the reciept says 2001... but it is infact a 1999.
I dont think there were any changes but I am changing the oil and ordered a oil filter for a 2001 (dealer said same as suzuki). The part number they gave me was 778885. The owners manual however says to use OMC 434839.
I already put the filter on and it is shorter then the OMC version. (the boat is not in the water yet).
From what I read on the next the 1998 and up suzuki df70 is the same engine I have... but should I be changing the filter to what the manual says or is a 2001 model year filter (that is shorter) ok to use on my 1999?

Also... how often do you reccommend changing the fuel filter and timing belt? I inspected it and it seems to be fine.
