I just had the powerhead on my 1985 Johnson 120hp V4 outboard rebuilt, I removed all hoses and wires from the original powerhead carefully labeling each and every one that way I wouldn't reinstall them incorrectly later. Everything is now hooked up without issue. The engine has great compression 145psi in all cylinders, it is getting fuel, however the spark is where I am concerned. First of all I have 4 separate coils and am not sure if I mixed the coil wires (not spark plug wires, the wires from powerpack to coil) but I have a weak spark and am not sure if the base timing is messed up by incorrect installation of the coil wires, is that even possible? I can fix that, what causes a weak spark?? I sprayed premix into the carbs and the engine wouldn't even try and start, not even a sputter, or puff, or backfire, absolutely nothing......it just hung on the back of my boat looking stupid, of course not as stupid as I must have looked like working on it from inside the boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
