I recently bought an old Starcraft 12' aluminum runabout and want to make a few alterations. I was hoping to get some helpful info on this forum, so Thanks in advance. I want to first prep/paint this thing and having no experience with this kind of project, I'm looking for a step by step process to follow. I have performed a leak test and no drips, I do want to seal/paint the inside as well. What products would I start with?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,....

Clean the seams, inside, 'n paint 'em with Glu-vit...
Then paint the inside with yer choice of color of Rustoleum...
On the outside, scuff the paint smooth, 'n repaint with Rustoleum paint...

Thanks for your input. Are you saying just Glu-vit the inside and repaint, and just scuff and repaint the outside?
No Glu-vit on the outside?

+1. That's right. Glu-vit is a 2 part epoxy you paint on to the interior seams of the boat to stop any leaks there may be. It goes on like honey, but cures tough and flexible. It does require some UV protection, which is what the paint is for. You can also use Glu-vit to seal any wooden components on the boat. As far as the hull goes, just sand any loose paint, wipe down with Acetone then paint. You may also want to use a light dusting of Zinc Chromate Self-Etching aluminum primer, especially on any bare aluminum prior to painting, but that's really about it. Like all paint jobs, the most important part is the prep. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Check the link at the bottom of my signature. It has a lot of helpful info for painting your boat inexpensively and yet yields a durable finish.
