From my last post I had found gear oil in my bilge. It was suspected that the outer seal was gone. Once I removed the upper gear housing I also seen gear oil in the u-joint bellows. Is the outer seal refered to as the oil seal between the roller bearing and the universal joint assembly ? Is there also a good test to see how the gear oil is leaving the upper gear housing ?

Thank You

I could see if the oil seal was gone why I would get oil in the bilge, but when I pulled the drain plug on the bottom of the lower unit water came out how does the water get in there ?

Do a pressure test....You may have leaky bellows....That would do it.......Jk
