Hi,How is everyone.I have a 25 hp mercury i was out in it one day and we went to crank it and change spots from where we were at.It wouldnt crank and i noticed the primer bulb had busted it was leaking gas so i changed it with one i had on the boat.It still wouldnt run right it would go a few feet for awhile every time i crunk it.After a while it wouldnt crank at all the only way i could get it to crank for a few seconds to a minute was to pour gas in the carb.i took it home and took the carb off and took the bowl off the carb.I didnt do anything to them i just put it back together and put the carb back on the motor. It crunk right up and ran until i turned it off.I took the boat back out and it ran fine to get us where we was going but then when i crunk it up to go back to the dock same thing it crunk up and ran a couple of feet and shut off and wouldnt crank back up.since i brung it home i havent messed with it.does anyone know what might be the problem and why it stops running then just taking the carb off and putting it back on will fix it and then it messes up again.i sure would appreciate some insight on why its doing this.thank you so much

Is the vent open on the tank? Did you get the primer in the correct direction? (arrow pointing to the engine)

Is the fuel pump working? Disconnect the fuel hose to the carbs, crank the motor and watch for a strong pulsed fuel stream.
