Remove 1990 Wellcraft Classic 170 bow backrest cushions

Hi, great site, my name is Gary, I am from Winnipeg Canada. I have been searching everywhere, I have redone the entire interior of my boat but can't figure out how to remove the backrest cushions from the bow. I thought it was just going to be a case of reaching through the storage holes under the bow seats, but to my surprise, I cant get at them. Can anyone offer me some advice here? I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

removing back rest cushions can be a pain.

hi.....welcome to iboats....

sorry bout the jets..
my buddie James Green plays for the bombers.

the back rests are usually bolted on from under the dash area.

if your boat has a liner....removal of the other side cushions can be a real pain to get off as well....

most of the time they are installed cap on, or before alot of other things go on the boat....so getting at them is tough.

id you have a small kid around they can get thier hands and arms in where we cant.

the other option is just to rip it off....then the replacement is up to your imagination !

Try to lift them Straight up ^ .. if they are a clip fastened bolster..

If that does not work..then you will probably have to remove the Dash for the STB side and the Glove box for the PT side for access ..

There is a way to get to them...

They might even be fastened with plastic ' tree ' things that just pop out.

Yes..you can rip them out and use the clip fasteners to reinstall as a last resort as oops suggested.

Thanks for the reply, after taking another look and determining that there was no possible way that the back rests could be bolted on, brute force seemed to be the only answer, so I took out my trusty pry-bar and went to work. Turns out that the back rest cushions are held in place by double ended chritmas tree clips. They are out!

Sorry i didn't post in time but i was going to tell you that well craft fastened these down with the christmas tree clips, thats how it was in my boat. A little force and they pop right out
