I have an old 20years old approx. Suzuki 15hp. It did not work for approx. 7 years. I wanted to use it again. I cleaned the carburator. No matter how many times i pulled the rope the engine will not start. When i remove the spark plug and i pour some gasoline inside, then it will start . But if i switch it off, again it will not start . I will have againto pour some gazoline inside the spark plugs.
Any idea what is the problem?
thanks

Re: 15hp Suzuki wont start easily

I had a 4-stroke 25hp Nissan that behaved a lot like that. I never tried to pour fuel directly into the spark plug hole, but I did have to squirt a little starter fluid into it and then pull the rope until my arm fell off. Like yours it took forever to get it to start, ran ok, not great, but ok, and once you turned it off I had to repeat the process. The mechanic soaked the carb frames in a sonic bath for a few hours and put new carb kits in them. It was worth it, runs like a brand new outboard now.
