Hi all...am new here. I have a 1960 Merc 35HP that is missing the tilt lock lever that allows the engine to tilt up and out of water for trailering. I have a transcom saver that will work to hold it up while trailering, but any suggestions on how to hold it up as it's being pulled out of the water? Short of having someone sit in boat and hold it up until it's out of water and accessible to apply transcom saver, can't do much with it. Can't seem to find the part anywhere....any help/suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I had that problem with an old evinrude. Used a hammer handle. Works for mooring and shallow draft running. Kept it tied to a string for trailering.

A 2x6 is standard Merc Tilt equipment for those old motors....
