Servicing a Ford Indmar 5.8

Hi All,<br />Being a recent convert to inboards from outboards, what do i need to service on my Ford Indmar 351 5.8l v8 direct drive (1991) raw water cooled each year.<br /><br />So far, I am going to do:<br />Raw water Impelar<br />T-stat<br />Plugs<br />oil filter + oil<br />Has no fuel filter as runs on LPG (Autogas)<br /><br />Any thing else i need to do?<br /><br />cheers<br />ross

That's about it.<br /><br />I'm confused? LPG? LPG is liquified petroleum gas, not gasoline. Is that correct?

yep, lots of inboards in the UK run on LPG (same stuff as heaters etc) it's a third of the price of petrol.<br /><br />cheers<br />ross

I think in the US it is called propane, we use it in barbques, caravans etc as well cars, boats, it is very clean and very cheap, only down side is that has a bit of a egg smell when filling up.<br /><br />cheers<br />ross

Ross,<br /><br />I thought so. Propane is actually about 104 octane. It also is about 99% the BTU's of gasoline. Cool.

What weight oil would people recommend for this engine? It is normaly about 50-70F here in england.<br /><br />cheers<br />ross
