I have a 2007 Trophy 2352WA with a Mercruiser 260 hp 5.0l MPI with Alpha-1 1.62 gears and a stock 3 blade aluminum 14.5x19p prop and trim tabs. I get 40 mph @ 5000 rpm WOT with 1.8 mpg. I tested a Turning point 4 blade aluminum 14x19p that got 36 mph @ 4000 rpm WOT with 2.2 mpg. I would like a 4 blade but, don't want to loose too much speed and would like better fuel economy as well.
I also was reading some specs on a similar sized and weighted Sea Ray 225 weekender with the same powerplant and drive. It had a 14x19 SS Vengeance prop. As tested, 47.3 mph @ 4950 rpm with 2.51 mpg and 32.7 mph @ 3500 rpm with 3.29 mpg. Could a SS prop make that much difference?
Have any other Trophy owners found the best prop yet? Also is anybody using any kind of stabilizer fin on their drive? How are the results?
