Ficht software for 1999 90 hp

I ordered the software and it did not come with a cable, it is version 1.42b and on a floppy and it says i have to run through DOS, and none of my laptops have a 9 pin seial port. I need advice on a cable and the best way to run the software on a newer machine.

i finally got different software with the cable and usb adapter but for the life of me i cannot get it to connect to the motor. i have tried a couple different downloads and nothing is working. i am trying to run it on xp i also have a newer laptop with 7 on it but did not try it yet because it my inhouse comp and would rather not muff it up outside. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i use older software run on win xp machines and the USB to serial never work reliable. i use a PCMCIA card with serial connections. never had a problem.

but from my experience it's the usb to serial causing all your problems
