Trim Switch

I've got a Triton TR18 with a Merc 150 XR6. My trim down button is acting weird. When I take off and trim up its fine, but then I trim it down just a little bit, it automatically trims it all the way down. It doesn't stop when I take my finger off the button. This makes me very uncomfortable while driving 50 mph, any ideas what is causing this? I also had it happen using the trim switch on the motor while I was attaching the transom saver, it started trimming down automatically and I had to go up to the throttle trim and hit the trim up to make it stop. Any ideas would be great.

My first thought is that your down solenoid is sticking. You could swap the down and the up solenoids and see if the problem moves. I'd just replace them both prophylactically. Runaway trim is a safety hazard.
