i live in scotland in the uk .i have a 28hp yamaha from 70's/80's. it is said that this engine was designed as a mariner upgrade of their 25hp model . the 28hp was said to have been marketed for the usa consumer.so the problem we have in the uk is sourcing parts for this engine. there is nowhere i can get my hands on coils. speaking on a uk forum about this. this gentleman said i could use the coils from a yamaha trail bike.i have seen coils the same shape as the yamaha ones on e-bay.
the question is could i use coils from a different manufacturer that would be compatable with my yamaha?
i would like everyones opinion on this subject.and has anyone put coils on a different outboard with success?
