Found a Royal outboard in the garbage today....with a pretty cool vintage stand!!!

From what I gather, it's from 1949 to 1956 vintage...model number is 2A7....5hp two cylinder.

Pretty clean, has a dent on one side, most of the decals are rubbed off, but it's all there (seemingly) and seems to have real good compression.

Now to find some info on this sucker, go through her, and see if she'll run.
I bet parts are a bear to find...but for free....what the heck, I'll maybe throw a couple bucks at her.

Pictures to follow soon!!

Re: New found motor!!??

Built in 1949 and 1950 by Gale Product Division of OMC for Standard Oil Dealers. Sold along side their Atlas tires and batteries. Also sold by numerous other catalog stores such as Montgomery Ward and Spiegle. There are lots of them around yet, and most of them still run or can be made to run. Ignition parts are same as SOME Evinrude and Johnson motors of the same years. Carburetor parts---well you make your own. Water pump impeller (properly called a "rotor") made by Brian Wilcox at http://www.chrystine.com/impellers/order.html

New plugs, and she runs like a charm!

Better than my 25HP Johnson too! Lol
