Volvo AQ130 thermostat cost. "Unreal"

I've been looking for a thermostat for my 74 Glastron V-170 AQ130C with 270 leg, Seirra 18-3656 or Volvo part # 876097
I found a NOS one on E-bay, but has anyone found a way to use anything else?

I would love to see any ways around this expensive part, and leaving it out is NOT an option.
