Ok so this is my first major rebuild on a glass boat. 1984 Crestliner Nordic Angler all fiberglass 16' with 50 h.p. evinrude. I took her out for the first night and thought I may have been in the titanic because I was taking on water much quicker then I would have liked. The floor is original.... for the most part, transom is rotted out not sure how bad, major leak near the intake for the livewell, found a 1/2" gash in the transom, and there are all the basics that based on the condition of the outside and the age I know are probably going to need to be done, and I think the the transom is officially made of marine epoxy since the prior owner had no concept of transducer plates. SO here is the plan. Remove old floor and strip out all the Pour foam that weighs 80000 lbs and get an actual damage assessment. Replace the stringers and transom, re glass all the boo boo's from the inside. Replace the transom and fill the 900 holes with a glass/epoxy pack or maybe just put another layer of glass over it on each sides to keep the sealed marine plywood used happier. Re pour my foam, new floor, new wiring, and add all my goodies like electronics and what not. This should be good for countless headaches, skinless knuckles, plenty o itchies, and lets not forget put me below the poverty line. The thing I am unsure of at this point is what kind of layout am I looking at, I can't seem to find out if they used cored glass or not, and have no idea what kind of stringer set up there is. I have heard rumors that they didnt use wood for most of the stringers but did in a couple other spots I guess the only way to find out is quit typing, go to bed, and get to work! I'll post some pictures of the original in all its glory soon and keep tabs on things as I go but I am gonna need help and thats where you come in, yes YOU. So if anyone out there has any info on this model and how it was constructed please fill me in.
