This low pressure fuel pump from my Volvo Penta 5.7 Gi almost cost me the salmon season opener! It kept tripping my circuit breaker and killing my engine. Thanks to Don's help, I installed a new one and took my revenge on the old one by sawing the troubled fuel pump open with a saws-all and dissected it. Here's what I found. Note fried coils. There seemed to be some resistance when I tried to spin the impeller? so that probably caused the motor to overload and heat up. Does anybody know what that star-shaped piece is? Pump?
