This is just an FYI for you guys who do your own maintenance. Do not swap your impeller in the fall, lube with an abundance of dish detergent and then let sit for an extended period(say the whole winter). Dish detergent gets hard after a period of time and it never occured to me. Stupid mistake. Once you crank the boat in the spring on the muffs, it will commence to turning you impeller to mince meat. Now I'm having to flush the entire system.

I will now either use KY or make the impeller change in the spring.

Be safe and have a great summer of boating!!

Best thing to do is change it in the spring. No since installing a new impeller in the fall and letting it sit there all scrunched up on one side for several months. Now, if all you do is take the impeller out, no reason to put anything on it until you re-install. Then some Joy soap and off you go. Personally, if I went to all the trouble to take the impeller out, I would sure put a new one back in.
