I just purchased an early 80's Mariner 60 hp 2 cylinder outboard. The motor is skipping and will not idle. I have replaced the plugs and I am in the process of cleaning the carbs. While taking the carbs. off, I noticed that there is a vacuum hose that is missing off the top carb. on the left size. I can not find where the hose goes to. Can this cause my problem and where does that hose go? Any help would be great.

Re: Mariner Vacuum Hose

Can you follow the hose from the bottom carb. it should go to a tee fitting. The hose from the top carb should go to the same tee fitting and a single line off that to the fuel pump.

What is you engine s/n?

Re: Mariner Vacuum Hose

The serial # is 675-305422. The vacuum hose on the right side (facing the carb.) goes from the top block the bottom block behide the carbs. On the left side the bottom vaccum hose looks like it runs to the area of the crankcase and the top block behide the carb did not have a hose on it. That is the one I need help with.

Re: Mariner Vacuum Hose

Thanks for the help. After reviewing the web links you sent me, I found that the hose I was looking for is on the intake manifold. I replaced the hose last night but I have not tried the motor yet.
