Hi there, can anyone help on this topic?
I need to replace the head gaskets on my 1977 Evinrude 85hp V4, so far I have removed all the 1/2 inch bolts and thefirst head seems to be stuck. What do I need to do to make the head removal come off.
Keeping in mind the gaskets are old.....

Thanks

If you are certain you have all 10 bolts out, give it a whack with a rubber mallet or a pry with a screwdriver. Just use common sense and don't bugger something up.

Thanks for the reply, all bolts are out except one that the head broke off. I assume that this will make it slightly harder to prise away from the block.
I will keep at it and see how I go, just didn't want to do any damage.
Thanks again

if this is a saltwater motor you better get the heat out and don't be surprised if you have to drill the broken bolt out first

Thanks again......this is a salt water engine and yep the drill has been at work. Gee what a slow process so far.
I will keep you all up dated during the process.
