Im working on a 1979 26.5 searay/mercruiser 5.7/pre alpha outdrive-----------my question is- are the adjustment studs for front moter mounts suposed to be protruding directly from the boats hull? I am ready to install freshly rebuilt engine and the studs on this hull are atatched to what apeares to be 2 stainless plates about 3"x6" that looks like 1/4" stock. Is this a fatory set up or did one of the previos owners repair it with these metal plates?I can't find any weak or rotted wood any where on hull.

Re: moter mounts

No, it's not normal. Sounds homemade to me. They should be sitting on rubber mounts.

Re: moter mounts

Yes, it's the mount. They probably have the SS plate used as spacers. That's quite common.
