OK, we are in Salt Water. The Boat remains in the water. The bottom is painted. What can I do to clean the Aluminum on my boat. Will ToonBrite hurt the bottom paint?

Thanks

Re: Cleaning Aluminum

Hi brotehrkicksve. There are several methods you can use to clean/protect the aluminum on your boat. IF left untreated, the aluminum will form a natural layer of oxidation which actually helps protect the metal beneath it in a manner similar to that of a patina on copper. However, with enough elbow, grease and polish you can get the aluminum to shine like a mirror, or airstream trailer. There really is no secret, you simply have to sand the bare metal with 1000+ grit emory paper and aluminum mag wheel polish. If the metal has large pits in it, then they will probably never fully come out, but you should still be able to improve the shine. Once you have the degree of luster you desire, you can protect the finish with products like Sharkhide aluminum cleaner and sealant. That's really about it. All you need is OCD, elbow grease and aluminum polish.
