Hey guys, new to the forum and looking for some help with what I'm pretty sure is a fuel problem. I have an 87 omc 5.0L cobra (305 chevy) with a quadrajet carb. The boat runs just fine up to about 3/4 throttle. 35mph and below....run all day with no problems, try to go above 35 and the boat starts to surge. If I push the throttle to wide open if falls completely on its nose. When I pull the throttle back to 3/4 or less it picks right back up and runs just fine. I'm 99% sure it's not electrical, it's not an abrupt miss, instead it surges likes it starving for fuel. The one other symptom is that when taking off to get up on plane if you go past about 3/4 throttle it backfires and bucks, but the minute you come off the throttle a little it clears up and takes off. I've changed the water seperator filter and that didn't help. I looked at the ceramic filter in the carb and it appears to be clean. Any thoughts on how I can determine if it's a carb problem or maybe a fuel pump on its way out? Or any other possibilities? Thanks for the help, Brian
