I own either an '80 or '81 80hp two stroke mariner serial no.5825074 and for the life of me cannot determine the MODEL number so i can order parts for it.

may as well cover it all here, anyway the throttle assembly(lever) is shot and need a new one. i would like to order on web and self install but can't seem to be sure any i look at will work.

basically just need lever assembly and about 10-12' of wiring with trim(4 wire) to start/run above motor(maybe even the two cables if cheap enough). its a side mount, the one i took off is a quicksilver that again i could not locate any model on only a few casting numbers on the inside.

any help advice appreciated,
clint

i got mine off of e bay..if you call the dealer they can make sure you get the right one. mine is a 881170a15 that works for most. side mount with 15' of harness..it was about 229 plus shipping. also i got cables as well and they were a good deal and work fine.

The Mercury site is down at the moment so will get the model number later. It is either a 7080520 or 620 and both use the same parts page:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/654.cfm

The s/n comes up as:

80 5763341 - 5892958 1980

From here:

http://www.marinshopen.se/Motorer/O...rslista/Mariner60275hp/tabid/462/Default.aspx

What are the casting numbers from the Quicksilver or you can download this file to see which one you have:

Re: typical newbie

that pdf is awesome, i have the commander classic recognized it immediately.
did find those two model numbers you mentioned on web but was unsure if either one was even right... thanks carholme

tidechaser1 thanks also, but your part is way to new for my boat me thinks, it says 93 or 96 and newer mine is ancient 80 or 81.

will try asking a few ebay retailers though thanks.
