Got a shift cable from the local boat place. The kit now comes with the cable, new thottle end and new shifter lever at the drive. What is the procedure for installing the outer casing along with the shift lever? I found instructions on how to adjust the cable once installed..

Pull the outdrive, unhook the cable at the side of the exhaust manifold remove the little jam screws and you can pull the end of the cable and unscrew the rod from that cable up at the motor. Then you can pull the shifter lever in the outdrive till the whole iner liner comes out. Then remove the shifter boot behind the gimbel and you will have to use a really deep 5/8 socket I think to remove the nut you will see that holds the outer tube in place in the gimbel housing. Then check in the boat were the outer tube is ran so you can route the new one in the same location. Then you should beable to pull the whole outer tube from the back of the boat all the way out and replace a little plastic piece in the hole in the transom then reinstall the boot and slide outer cable from back of boat all the way back up towards the motor making sure it is ran in the right location. Then reinstall the inner cable and putting it all back together and adjust it. Hopefully this will give you a good idea what you are doing.
