Hi, everybody
Hope someone can help with my 2000 mercury 250 EFI problem. On our last trip out the low oil alarm came on. Checked the reserve tank on the enigne it was down about two inches. Had plenty of oil in the reservior but it was not transfering to the engine tank. Ran the boat back in to the dock on the reserve tank, only about ten miles in. We filled the reserve tank back up and the warning alarm and light went tried to run the engine to load the boat, it would not start. Took it to the shop and they replaced the Stator and said it was ready to go. Took it out and it did the same thing. Took it back to them and they replaced the stator on the other motor and checked to see if I had spun a cylinder liner, they still could not get it to run on all six cylinders. They said it might be a cracked ring on the crankshaft. I took the boat back to SA and put it in the shop(different shop) now for about 2 months. They checked it and said it was only running on 3 cylinders. they ran all kinds of test and could not find out why it was doing this. Checked wiring harness from the igintion back it was ok. were going to check the engine harness but it was to windy for them to take it for a test run. they said it started running on all six cylinder so maybe it shook something back place. Never did get on the water under aload. Took it out again and same problem. Oil alarm came on again, check the oil reserve on the engine down about 2 inches would not plane the boat out and would not restart after we turned it off.

Question#1 Dose this year motor have limp mode if the oil pump is out. Might add that the compression is great in all six cylinders.
