1995 Johnson outboard wont start, just floods

I have a Johnson model J50TLEO outboard that ran fine until last Oct. Then it would no longer start. It turns over great, but you smell gas and see gas on the water like it floods. Any ideas wht to replace? It is in a dock and I have no way to get *** out of the water and to a marina to fix it.

Welcome to iboats

First thing is to buy a proper manual (cheaper then paying labor rate) and it is time for a carb tear down and re-build.

Since it ran fine 6 months ago........ I strongly suspect clogged passages and dirt in the carb.
