This motor is new to me and i have been reading up to sort out a few things. There have been many things wrong with the motor after replacing the magnets in the flywheel most of the issues were resolved and besides a rough idle it performs well. The tacho has been working intermittently and generaly there is only 12volts on the gauge so i figure the rectifier. The only issue is to do the test as suggested in the forum i can't make sense of the wiring on the terminal block. It appears to me that the grey wire from the rectifier is attached to twin brown wires. There is a red wire on terminal 4 not attached to anything. The Purple 12v vcd lead on terminal 5 looks like it is attached to a grey wire which should be the tacho. I have attached a photo of it so you can see. When i took the grey wire and screwed it on to terminal 1 i blew the 35amp (i think) fuse in the motor. Can anyone make any sense of the wiring.

Regards

Paul

Look at the sticky at top of page 1, 1989 wiring chart, wiil help get you started. Looks like your harness chopped up a bit. The red wire is a dead end wire not connected to anything your engine. Color must match color on the termial board.
