1978 35 hp Evinrude, fuel leak

When I pump up the bulb on the fuel supply line, I can see a trickle of fuel coming down the fuel line in the engine compartment. Maybe a connection or the hose. What is involved with getting to that hose under, I assume, the carburator? ijustwannafish

The hose may have a split in it or else it needs a new clamp. You'll have to follow to where it's exactly leaking.

Hi, did you happen to take the air silencer off so you could get a good look at the carb? Just want to rule out fuel spilling out the carb bowl and down that line before you go replacing them. On my 1979 35, you can't really even see the front of the carb with the silencer on.

And it's definitely no different on the 78' model. Pull of the front silencer and follow the fuel line from the fitting that you connect your gas line to, to the carburetor. If it is leaking at the fitting on the carburetor, it could be a poor clamp, or a crack at the fitting. Easiest to just replace the line and put on a new fitting ($5 fix). Otherwise if you have a little extra fuel line, cut off a half inch hunk of it on the end and re clamp the clipped line.
