I have a 115hp evinrude 2 stroke on my pontoon. I took it out today and at full throttle it worked fine for 30 seconds or so then the motor revved higher and lost a lot of speed, if I slow it back down it returns to normal, and then if I speed it back up same thing occurs.
I am new to this and would appreciate any thoughts.

Thank you
Josh

It sounds like at full throttle your prop is slipping. when you throttle down there is less torque so it doesn't slip . Pull prop and check rubber hub. probably it is separated . If so it will only get worse.

Is that an easy fix?

Do you have a prop with a replaceable bub system or is it a standard prop ? If its a standard prop you could probably get it rebuilt by a prop shop but it would cost as much as a new prop.

Most modern props can be rehubbed by a local props shop. Rehubbing does not require a complete prop rebuild, so it is not as expensive.
