1958 evinrude 18hp fastwin will not start

i have a 1958 evinrude 18hp fastwin that will not start it has compression and is firing but still will not start any suggestions i would really like to get it running again the last time i ran it it did fine the first couple of times then when we went back out it was running then died and it hasn't started since please please help me

what are the comp numbers? is the spark strong? try putting fuel/oil mix directly into the plug holes and post back with results.

not sure what the exact number is but the boat motor repair man said that it was good enough the he did not see why it was not starting and the sparks are strong as well it act as if it wants to start but it isn't like i said earlier it just stopped runing while we were going down the lake and it would not start back up.
