I need to replace a lot of missing parts for the lift mechanism on my 270 drives in the near future, but for now I am leaving them in the down position.

Is it possible to manually wind the lifting mechanism shaft in so that I can lock my outdrive down, at the moment its on slight trim and is kicking up in reverse. I have no loom or relays to the motor, so cant use that.

Thanks in advance, Louis

Louis, you could, but it would take quite a long time.

The lift unit has a built in clutch that allows it to slip when needed.
Lift the drive and put a piece of wood between the suspension fork and the pressure plate at the bottom of the vice rod.
Push down on the drive, and if the clutch is working, the vice rod will fully retract.
Now the latch will hold if all is good.

I managed to make a basic rig for the motor, and wind the mechanism with it, worked a treat!
