60's Merc Thunderbolt. Does it take a flywheel puller cause itll be a bear finding screws this small and long enough.

Merc dealer or sometimes on ebay, works great the body of the tool threads into the flywheel then a bolt threads into that to pull the flywheel.
Remove nut first. I hope you marked the 'wheel before you took it apart.

Daannnnnnnggggggg!! I just realized it right before I checked the thread. There are threads on the inside of the center. I marked the flywheel Merc, trust me I have seen all over here people hastily removing the flywheel without the proper tool. You guys think that I can get her off by using two 1/4-20 hardened steel bolts directly across from each other with a flywheel puller, or is that just asking for trouble?

And this may sound stupid, but is now that the stator is removed, is there anyway to get the new belt on the crankshaft first, and then slip it over the distributor shaft when the pulley guide is removed without removing the center piece of the flywheel?

Yes, you can use that one but it includes a lifting eye.

If you just want the puller:

I have the puller and the lifting eye, best $40 ever spent.

Okay, thanks Ger! I don't know if it'll be the best $40, cause my advanced auto flywheel puller has pulled off 10's of flywheels, and it only costed me $12. :(

I just bought one, too, after borrowing a neighbor's for years. He's now retired and in Florida for 8-months of the year, so I got my own - also one of MBS MFG's. VERY nice piece!

Cool man, I just ordered mine. No reason to mess around here.
