Hello everyone. I am new to iboats so please bare with me. I recently acquired a 57 evinrude 7.5hp motor. I would like to change it over to a single fuel line system. Could anyone suggest which and where to get a bypass cover? Or possibly have one for sale? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have two complete pressurized tanks. Thanks again. ( I apologize if this thread is located in the wrong section or is a duplicate)

Thanks for the links! I've found many listed on ebay, but to be honest, I am not completely sure which cover I need to convert my engine. Any idea of part number or reference number for my search?

I believe you need part number #202527. Here's a link to a complete parts list with exploded diagrams for your motor. Actually, it's for a '58 7.5 hp, but your motor is virtually identical except for the paint scheme. You can also just a want ad on aomci.org. One of the resident pros there will know the number and will probably sell you one for super cheap. Good guys over there.

do you actually need a cover? i dont know much about the 7.5's but the conversion could be like the 5.5 or just a matter of drilling and tapping the bypass cover that you have?

nwcove is right. You don't really need to buy a new one. You can tap a threaded hole in the cover you have and install a fuel nipple, unless it's damaged or unusable in some way. If you do decide to tap it yourself, just be sure you remove the cover from the power head first, so you don't get any metals shavings in the cylinders. You can get a tap and dye kit at virtually any hardware store and they're handy for all kinds of stuff.

My current bypass cover is part number 202527.maybe I don't have as good an understanding as I thought about this process for my particular motor. Its as simple as tapping one of my current covers, then adding the fuel pump? Thats even better than I originally thought! Lol

It is one option, likely the cheapest. Tap your current bypass cover for the pulse, block off your existing pressure line(stick an old bolt in it with a hose clamp), change the fuel fitting and you're done like dinner.

+1. It really is that simple. Gotta love those old OMCs ;)

I just converted a FD19 10hp using the pulse off the manifold nipple. Plugging one side of the check valve and using a Mikuni pump. I haven't run it on the water, but the tank test went great. It was easy and very clean to install. Picked up the pump for $20.00 delivered.

They never made the 7.5 in a fuel pump version, so you have to adapt what you have...
