In our 1989 Fourwinns Vista we have 5.8 twins. They run well but overheat. When I bought the bought the previous owner stated the outdrives needed resealing so had that done. Now when I run the boat it overheats. Pulled the tstats and it still overheats. Changed the impeller and housing, and it still overheats. Now I want to look at the manifolds and risers. What should I look for? Any ideas. When I first start the boat it seems like the water will circulate, but after the engine warms up, it seems like the circulation stops. Help. Thanks.

Make sure there are no restrictions in your exhaust, like flappers that are melted and stuck in the exhaust. You'll need to pull the risers and look down towards the lower to see if they are there or not. Good luck.

Flappers will not cause an overheat, but plugged up manifolds and risers sure will.
