1976 9.9 evinrude slipping when above idle???? help please

i took my boat out with a 1976 9.9 evinrude on it and it started great and went into gear but as soon as i give it gas it just revs up and wont go... my shift rods seem to be going into gear good, i have no idea what it is or could be? please help me if you can... thanks alot!

If it is spline drive, pull the prop off and inspect the splines, or if it is pin drive maybe a spun prop bushing.

I think it's a spline drive and the hub could be slipping.

Check the prices here on I-Boats and a prop shop first for a re-hub.
