Picked up a used Bayliner Ciera and the only mechanical problem is the drive won't raise or lower. Discovered that the top part of the tilt mechanism is broken off at the very top (where the cut off switch for relays sit). I have located & priced some used ones (kind of spendy) and I was wondering how difficult they are to remove. I see 2 bolts holding it in. Any do's or dont's that I need to watch for before I attempt to remove it? any suggestions?

Don'ts.... Do not pry underneath the cast iron flange. It's brittle and might break off.

Does... place a piece of wood between the upper part of the suspension fork and the vice rod pressure plate.
Push down on the out drive and let this force the unit up out of the shield.

If its going to come out, this is the safest way to try it.
